A line can connect, separate, express, or define. By presenting a globe without traditional borders, I challenge the notion of lines as boundaries and instead showcase them as symbols of unity, illustrating a world where differences are celebrated and shared humanity is the focus. This globe transcends geographical, linguistic, and cultural disparities, symbolizing the unity of humanity through connections rather than divisions.
The inscription I created 'This is where I live, when I close my eyes' serves as a reminder of our shared humanity beyond external differences. I chose gold paint to symbolize the stars and the preciousness of human connections.
Incorporating short words from this phrase into over 15 languages, I challenged myself to include non-Latin scripts, embracing and highlighting diverse cultures. Working on the curved surface with a permanent paint pen was tricky and challenging, requiring careful attention, so I practiced on similar surfaces to ensure precision.
