“Blue Piano Bench” (2017)

The piano corner of my family’s living room has always been a meaningful space for me — where I took voice lessons, wrote songs, and spent countless hours practicing.

Noticing the lack of variety in traditional piano bench designs, I decided to create one that reflected my own taste and functional needs.

Instead of placing the padded upholstery on the seat, I applied a tufted leather finish to the sides, giving the bench a sculptural presence. The top, upholstered in blue faux leather — my favorite color — introduces contrast while maintaining comfort.

I extended the length of the bench to serve multiple purposes: hidden storage for small instruments and music books, and seating for two when needed.

This piece combines personal memory with functional design — transforming a standard object into something more expressive and intimate.
